Short jaunts sort of suck. You leave home in the early afternoon and arrive back east at 10 at night. Then the challenge of trying to sleep properly happens, which, for me, results in watching movies until 5 in the morning because of the time change. Thankfully tomorrow is a rehearsal day, so I’ll get to sleep in a little, at least until check out. Then it’s off to run the show and then on ...More »

This listeriosis thing is somewhat troublesome being that I consume a great deal of deli meat - actually, I just eat a lot of Prosciutto, all of which is imported from Italy, so. But it's troubling for the public nonetheless. If you haven't heard about what's transpiring, the CBC has details. More »

With a little over two weeks until the SPCA's Paws For A Cause, excitement is certainly building! Our fundraising efforts have been met with an overwhelming response and I, for one, am incredibly grateful for the generosity and encouraging words of support. Being that so many of you have chosen to give to the animals, I would like to give something back. Amongst those who have made contributions of more than $20, I will ...More »

Anthropologist, Dr. Michael Wesch, makes plain the power of not your computer, but the social media device that you're currently sitting in front and using... Though very early on in his presentation, pause the video and seriously take a moment and think about the statistics that he provides regarding ABC as compared to YouTube. More »

Being ‘gifted’ independence is a tricky thing. In some parts of the world more than others… “Prime Minister Nouri al Maliki said Monday there would be no security agreement between the United States and Iraq without an unconditional timetable for withdrawal— a direct challenge to the Bush administration, which insists that the timing for troop departure would be based on conditions on the ground. "No pact or an agreement should be set without being based on full ...More »

Rehearsing. Pacing the lengths of my apartment with a guitar, wandering through songs I haven’t performed acoustically in a while in preparation for this weekend’s upcoming acoustic show. You know me – in the end I’ll probably just wing it. Sometimes you just have to. The heat’s come back. Plans made for the fall have regrettably changed for various reasons. Still can’t sleep. The dogs are at my parents' place and I have to admit that ...More »

This is the sort of nonsense that occurs when powers greater than yourself are lurking in your background… “President Mikheil Saakashvili of Georgia said Sunday that he planned to rebuild his country’s shattered army, and that even after its decisive defeat in the war for control of one of Georgia’s two separatist enclaves he would continue to pursue a policy of uniting both under the Georgian flag. “It will stay the same,” he said of his ambition ...More »

Two outcomes seem very likely because of the recent Russian incursion into Georgia. The first is that Georgia’s membership in NATO will very probably be fast tracked. The second is the greater promotion of the US backed Eastern European missile defense shield. A very interesting statement was recently made by Rep. Mark Kirk (Republican, Illinois), who is attempting to introduce legislation in the House that would increase funds for the Eastern European BMD system. Kirk ...More »

You’re all aware of my paralyzing fear of the 'right-wing' blogophere. In fact, I’m bemused by the polarization of political ideologies in North America full stop. Right-wing this, leftist that – neither of them actual representations of what is traditionally considered leftist or truly right-wing. Vladimir Lenin was a leftist and Augusto Pinochet was quintessentially right-wing, and the ideologies of both come nowhere close to being found in what is commonly referred to as 'leftist' ...More »

I found this video of one of the potential candidates for the president of the United States. Obviously race might be a bit of an issue for his campaign, but after a careful analysis, I strongly believe this is the best candidate: Here are a few of the reasons why I think this candidate is the best choice: Let's be honest, this president is fairly predictable. It's fairly unlikely there will be any last-minute ...More »
